STOCKTON, CA – A two daughters and their father were caught in the middle of a shootout between two groups of people in north Stockton Saturday afternoon.

The 41-year-old man and his two daughters were on the 9100 block of Thornton Road around 4 p.m. when suspects in a 4-door white Nissan Altima got into an argument with two people in a dark green or black Chevrolet Camaro, Stockton police said.

A suspect in the Nissan got out of the car and began shooting a rifle at the occupants in the Camaro.

Some rounds went through the 41-year-old man’s clothing, police said. A 10-year-old girl was hit by the Camaro as it fled the scene. She suffered minor cuts and did not need medical treatment.

The Camaro fled northbound on Thornton Road, while the Altima fled eastbound on Waudman Avenue.

About four hours later, a gunshot victim connected to the incident arrived at a nearby hospital.

The 31-year-old victim suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He told police the Camaro, which he was driving, was being followed by the Altima when one of the suspects got out of the Altima and opened fire.

Police said the motive for the shooting is unclear.
