Gaza militant killed as rockets hit Israel
JERUSALEM — A Gaza health official says a Palestinian militant was killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted rocket-launcher squads in the coastal strip.
Ashraf Al Kedra says the militant was killed early on Saturday and that 17 people, some of them civilians, were wounded. He says some buildings used by the militant Hamas group, which rules the coastal territory, were damaged.
The Israeli military says the airstrikes target Palestinian militants who have fired over 150 rockets at residential areas in southern Israel this week. An Israeli civilian was injured by one of the rockets on Saturday morning.
The latest round of fighting erupted last week when militants infiltrated across the porous border from Egypt and killed an Israeli civilian. A shadowy al-Qaida-linked group claimed responsibility.
