Key 26/11 terror suspect Abu Hamza nabbed
New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police on Monday arrested a key 26/11 terror suspect from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.
According to sources, the suspect – identified as Abu Hamza alias Sayeed Zabi ud Deen alias Zabi Ansari alias Riyasat Ali – was nabbed while returning from the Gulf.
Hamza is believed to have provided assistance to 26/11 terrorists. He was reportedly one of the Pakistani handlers who was giving instructions to the 26/11 terrorists.
Sources said Hamza was in Pakistan when the 26/11 attack took place. He had been on the run since 2006 when he went to Pakistan.
Hamza reportedly identified targets for the 26/11 attacks and was also wanted in connection with some cases in Gujarat.
He was produced before a court which remanded him to 15 day police custody.
He is reported to be involved with the Indian Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba terror groups
